In recent years, people have grown increasingly conscious about what they put into their bodies. We have begun looking for alternatives to the food we enjoy. Sometimes people look for these alternatives due to allergies like gluten allergies or dairy allergies. Others just believe it’s a healthier lifestyle, whatever your reason, we are here to support you.
Listed below are a few foods that team aastey has been swapping:
Sugar:
Sugar is something everybody uses on a daily basis. We put it in our tea, coffee, desserts, and so many other things. Regular sugar is bleached and is addictive. Some alternatives to sugar are stevia, which is a plant-based sweetener, jaggery, honey, or agave, which is also a natural sweetener.
Flour:
Flour is another staple food in most of our diets. However, flour has no fibre and it slows down digestion which in-turn could cause a sluggish metabolism. Healthier options are millet flours like jawar, bajra and amaranth flour, and whole wheat.
Dairy
Milk was once considered incredibly healthy and an important source of calcium. In the last few years, people have stayed away from milk because of the added preservatives and the watering down of milk. Research has also shown that it is a potential cause of certain types of cancers. Some alternatives are oat milk, soya milk, almond milk, coconut milk or rice milk.
While these are a niche group of food substances for which we have given healthier alternatives, there are so many other food groups that can also have multiple healthier food choices. Butter can be substituted with oil and rice with millets, amongst others.
Whatever your diet, as long as it makes you happy, and is not forced on you, is healthy.
Sometimes, you want to have that cheesy sinful pizza and no one should tell you otherwise.
