After the resurgence of the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s, it was only a matter of time before fashion trends from the 2000s, aka Y2K, reappeared.

The late 90’s saw a sudden increase in technological advancement which led to uncertainty and panic among the people about the future. This panic was reflected in their fashion choices, giving way to iridescent materials which were meant to embody CD’s and fashion inspired by characters such as the Bratz dolls. 

One would assume that a pandemic would cause a similar sense of panic and worry for the future, ultimately paving the path for Y2K fashion to resurrect. Y2K fashion is also known for its bright colour palette with an emphasis on pinks and neon. Along with some classic jewelry that looks chic yet personalized due to its ‘straight-out-of-a-jewelry-kit-look,' it's the perfect mid-pandemic trend, because dull colors never cheered anyone up anyways.

However, in the early 2000s, size inclusivity was not at the top of any fashion industry priority lists.Y2K fashion was characterised by camisoles, low-waisted jeans, and mini skirts. Thankfully, 2021 did not disappoint, with sweatshirts, mom jeans and, of course, the signature baguette bags, we made sure no one felt left out.

Bustiers, denims, baby tees, bandannas and pleated skirts are a few other key components in the world of Y2K fashion. An era that had something for everyone. Mix in our goals for inclusivity and equality and you’ve got yourself a trend for the ages.
